This watch is the most complicated timepiece the brand has ever created. It pays homage to the "L'Universelle" watch, which was produced in 1899 and is one of the most complicated timepieces in the world. More than a century later Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet introduces its very first ultra-complicated selfwinding wristwatch (RD#4) in the highly contemporary design of the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet collection. The development took seven years and was supervised by the well-known technical director Giulio Papi. It was launched in March 2023 and in November of the same year it won the prestigious //Aiguille d'Or// at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. While paying tribute to the manufacture’s legacy of high complications, the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Ultra-Complication Universelle RD#4 has been crafted with ergonomics and contemporary usage in mind to offer unprecedented comfort and simplicity of use. This new creation regroups the Manufacture’s horological savoir-faire into a single movement, the selfwinding Calibre 1000, which counts over 1,100 components. A feat of engineering and fine watchmaking tradition, this pioneering mechanism builds on three generations of R&D innovations and incorporates 40 functions, including 23 complications, among which a Grande Sonnerie Supersonnerie, a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar, a split-seconds flyback chronograph and a flying tourbillon. The timepiece also boasts for the first time a “secret” gold caseback that amplifies the watch’s acoustic performance when worn, and reveals the beauty of the mechanism thanks to the new Supersonnerie sapphire soundboard, once opened. Engineers, designers, watchmakers and craftspeople worked hand in hand for over 7 years to bring this RD#4 timepiece to life, continuously broadening their skills to push the limits of Haute Horlogerie craftsmanship to new heights. **Reference:** * 26398OR.OO.D002KB.01 Pink gold * 26398BC.OO.D002CR.99 White gold **Movement:** * Self-winding manufacture movement Calibre 1000, 21,600 A/h * 1.155 movement components * 90 jewels * Power reserve 60 h **Case:** * 18 ct Pink gold or white gold * Ø 42,4 mm, H 15.55 mm * Sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating * Double case back system with a “secret” extra-thin cover and a 0.6mm-thick soundboard completely made out of sapphire crystal that holds the gongs * Waterproof to 3 atm **Dial:** * Beige, with black counters * White gold model: Opaline black galvanic gold dial **Functions:** * Hours, minutes, date * Day, month, year * Moon phase * Flyback chronograph * Split Second Chronograph * Flying tourbillon * Perpetual calendar * Minute Repeater * Striking Watch Semi-Gregorien, Petite, Grande Sonnerie **Wristband:** * Black alligator strap or rubber strap with deployment clasp **Price:** * 1'723'200 CHF (2023) **Limited edition:** * 1 piece per model
