  *  The Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon ([[FHF]]) is founded in Fontainemelon by Isaac and David Benguerel together with Julien and François Humbert-Droz under the name "Benguerel & Humbert. It is the first [[raw movement]] manufacturer of the world. 
  *  During the French Revolution it is attempted to introduce the [[decimal time]], counting time in decimal units. This fails, however, because of the lack of acceptance by the population. 
  *  Due to the turmoil of revolution [[Breguet, Abraham-Louis|Abraham-Louis Breguet]] flees from France back to [[Neuchâtel]].
