  *  Nicolas Rieussec, a French watchmaker, developes a "time recorder" with ink for King Louis Philippe, by which the times of individual horses can be stopped at horse racing. The model [[Montblanc Star Nicolas Rieussec Monopusher Chronograph|Star Nicolas Rieussec Monopusher Chronograph]] launched by [[Montblanc]] in [[2008]] uses this principle of rotating discs again.
