  *  The watchmaker Franck Muller, the later co-founder of the famous luxury watch brand [[Franck Muller|Franck Muller Genève]], named after him, is born on 11 July 1958 as the son of an Italian and a Swiss. 
  *  [[Gerd-Rüdiger Lang]], the later founder of the renowned watch manufacturer [[Chronoswiss]], begins his watchmaking training in his home town Brunswick (Braunschweig, Germany) at the watch shop Jauns. 
  *  In the same year begins the collaboration of [[Heuer, Jack W.|Jack W. Heuer]], a grandson of the founder, in the company [[Heuer]], later [[TAG Heuer]].
