A **bridge** is a [[movement]] component that holds a [[wheel]] bearing with two attachments to a [[plate]].

===== Overview =====
A bridge is a metal part, which forms the upper bearing point for at least one [[wheel]] axis ([[pin]]) and is mounted on the back of the [[plate]]. A bridge differs from a [[cock]] in that it is mounted to the plate in at least two places, typically on either side of the wheel bearing.

Because many [[balance wheel]]s are mounted to a bridge, **balance bridge** is a common term in watchmaking.
