**Dead-beat seconds** (or **jumping second**, **true beat**, French //Seconde Morte//, German //Ruhende Sekunde//) are a special function of mechanical watches.

Here the seconds hand moves stepwise and exactly in a strict seconds rhythm. This mechanism is found, for example, with these models
