An **engineer** watch is a [[tool watch]] for technical professionals.

===== Overview =====
Early engineer watches were designed for use on the railroad, but later examples are for technical workers. In all cases, an engineer watch should be clean and legible, usually with [[Arabic numeral]]s on the dial and few complications. [[Magnetic resistance]] is another highly-prized element, both for lab work and to ensure accuracy.

Seiko created a five-link bracelet known as the "engineer" [[bracelet]], and it is today used on many technical watches. Each link is squared-off with a hexagonal profile and all links are roughly the same size, giving the look of a chain or belt.
