Georges Favre-Jacot was born in [[1843]]. In [[1865]], at the young age of only 22, he founded the "Fabrique des Billodes" in [[Le Locle]], which later became the famous watch manufacturer [[Zenith]]. First, he made precision [[pocket watch]]es that were signed with his name. [[1900]] the product range was expanded [[Board chronometer]]s, [[table clock]]s, precision [[pendulum]] watches and later also [[marine chronometer]]s were manufactured. The name "Zenith" came to his mind, when he had just developed a [[movement]] that seemed more perfect than any previous to him; on looking at the starry sky, the sky appeared to him as the game of the wheels and pins in a perfect mechanics, and he decided to name his new movement and also his [[manufacture]] after the highest point of the universe Zenith. Also, hence, resulted for him the choice of a five-pointed star as the company symbol.
