====== Free-sprung ======

A [[balance spring]] is called **free-sprung**, if the [[rate]] of the watch is not regulated by a [[regulator]], but only by tightening or loosening screws attached to the balance.

This is the case with a [[screw balance]] such as the [[Gyromax]] of [[Patek Philippe]], a [[cam-poised balance]] or the [[Microstella]] device of [[Rolex]].
