**Calibre 98000** is a family of classic watch movements produced by [[IWC]] since the 1930s.

===== History =====
IWC introduced the [[hunter]] pocket watch movement **Cal. 98**, in the 1930s. But it became well known as the movement inside the famous [[IWC Portugieser|Portugieser]] wrist watches, produced in limited numbers that decade.

IWC brought back the movement as **Cal. 982** in [[1977]] for the "German Edition" Portugieser, produced until [[1981]]. In [[1993]], IWC revived the classic movement as **Cal. 9828**. This modern development added shock resistance to the balance.

**Cal. 98290** is a modern incarnation of the classic Cal. 98. It features the elongated adjustment index of early pocket watch movements along with a modern [[Glucydur]] balance.
