====== Oechslin, Ludwig ======
**Ludwig Oechslin** (born February 10, [[1952]] in Gabicce Mare, Italy) is a watchmaker and inventor.

He is a well-known watch designer and head of the [[Musée international d'horlogerie, La Chaux-de-Fonds]].

He studied Classical Studies at the University of [[Basel]]. [[1983]], he received his doctorate. Parallel to his studies he performed a watchmaker apprenticeship and finished it in [[1984]]. [[1993]], he passed the exam to become Federally Qualified Swiss Watchmaker. [[1995]] followed the habilitation.

He supervised and organized various exhibitions, including one about Philipp Matthäus Hahn from 1984-1990 in Stuttgart. In addition, he studied and preserved technical artifacts such as the Farnese Clock in the Vatican and 40 watches of the priest mechanics. He initiated the project of the great astronomical Türler Clock.

Through his collaboration with [[Ulysse Nardin]] a series of famous astronomical models like the [[Ulysse Nardin Astrolabium|Astrolabium]], the [[Ulysse Nardin Planetarium|Planetarium]] and the [[Ulysse Nardin Tellurium Johannes Kepler|Tellurium Johannes Kepler]] were created.

In [[1995]], Ludwig Oechslin received the prestigious [[Prix Gaïa]] Histoire-Recherches award. He received the Special Jury Prize at the [[Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève]] in November, [[2009]].

[[2006]] he founded the watch brand [[Ochs und junior]] together with Beat Weinmann and Kurt König.
