Pfeifer and the Nuremberg jeweler Alfred Wallner buy the [[VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe|Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB)]] on November 1, [[1994]] from the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treuhandanstalt|Treuhand]] ("Trust agency"), after a first privatization attempt with the [[France Ebauches]] had failed. The brand is now called [[Glashütte Original]]. Pfeifer succeeds to make the former state company, which was focused on cheap mass production, an exclusive watch [[manufacture]] of top class, which causes a sensation with successful new luxury models. Continuing the tradition of cheap but high-quality mechanical watches, Pfeifer also re-animates the [[Glashütte]]-based, renowned brand [[Union]], HICH also comes on the market with a new model programme. After the sale of both brands to the [[Swatch Group]] in [[2000]], Pfeifer was responsible as Executive Director of the [[EganaGoldpfeil]] Group for their activities in Europe. Here he was particularly committed to a fundamental reorientation of the [[Junghans]] collection. Meanwhile, Pfeifer is co-owner of the "Tempora Nova GmbH", which is the new owner of the traditional German brand [[Dugena]].
