====== Philippe Dufour ====== **Philippe Dufour** is a Swiss watchmaker and watch manufacturer. Insiders in the industry count Philippe Dufour, who occurs very modest on the outside, to the greatest contemporary watchmakers. He was born in 1948 in Le Sentier in the Vallée de Joux, where he lives again today. After he had gathered experience as a watchmaker in London, Frankfurt and on the Virgin Islands, he made himself independent in 1978. He is one of the most famous members of the renowned watchmaker association AHCI. Dufour manufactures his extraordinary watches only in very small numbers; yet he produces up to 90% of the parts of his watches by hand. His most famous watch is the repetition watch "Grande et Petite Sonnerie," which he introduced 1992 and for which at the World Salon of Watches in Basel he was awarded the Gold Medal for technical innovations. It consists of 420 hand-made components and was assembled in 2,000 hours. Other well-known models are the 1996 presented "Duality", the world's first wristwatch with two balances, and the 2000 presented "Simplicity", whose beauty lies in its simple, classic clarity. Dufour is an avowed admirer of the works of A. Lange & Söhne. Philippe Dufour won the Special Jury Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève in November, 2013. In 1998, Dufour received the prestigious Prix Gaïa Artisanat-Creation award. ===== Address ===== Philippe Dufour\\ 1, ch des Auberts\\ CH-1347 Le Sentier\\ Tel. +41 (0) 21 845 53 70\\ Fax +41 (0) 21 845 41 95\\ E-Mail dufour@bluemail.ch ===== Weblinks ===== * Philippe Dufour (unofficial Site)
