A **regatta countdown** timer is a [[watch]] with a countdown function showing time remaining, intended for boat racing.

Regatta watches allow competitors to position their boat close to the starting point of a race without being penalized by crossing the line. The countdown is typically displayed using different colors or with special hands or [[subdial]]s. Most regatta timers start at ten minutes since this is customary in boat racing. Some also include additional shorter timers as the start approaches.
