====== Self-strike ======
**Self-strike** is a sound mechanism in a watch.

It is a [[carillion]] of a [[pocket watch|pocket]] or [[wristwatch]], which -- in contast to a [[repetition]] -- takes action totally by itself. Depending on the design, as in a [[pendulum]], the hours ([[Petite Sonnerie]]) and also quarters of an hour ([[Grande Sonnerie]]) are represented acoustically "in passing". By pressing a button such complicated mechanisms are also able to repeat the hours, quarter hours and minutes.
