**Aletta & Peter Stas**

Swiss watch entrepreneurs

Aletta Bax and Peter Stas C. founded, both still at a young age, [[1988]] in [[Geneva]] the independent family company [[Frederique Constant]] in its present form. By chance we find the company name formed from the name of the forefathers also in the name of the present owners Aletta Francoise //Frédérique// Stas-Bax and Peter //Constant// Stas.

After the two had designed their first collection of six models with Swiss movements, made by a Geneva watchmaker, they presented it in [[1992]] to the public. By good quality, affordable prices and a memorable appearance of the watches (the pulsation of the [[balance wheel]] could be admired through the dial), they succeeded in gaining a foothold in the densely populated watch market.

In [[2002]] Aletta and Peter Stas acquired the traditional brand [[Alpina]], which was well-known among watch lovers. Since then, they pursue the building of [[manufacture]] competence with their two brands so both at [[Frederique Constant]] and since [[2008]] also at [[Alpina]] proprietary and in-house produced [[manufacture]] movements can be found in the model range.
