A **stopwatch** is a handheld device used to measures time intervals.

Usually in [[pocket watch]] form, stopwatches can be stopped and restarted by [[pusher|push button]], either with additive time shown or reset.

In common usage, the meaning of the term is restricted to hand-held devices without further time display, as opposed to [[chronograph]]s, which are [[wristwatch]]es with additional stopwatch functions.
