====== Valjoux 7730 ====== The Valjoux calibres **7730**, **7731**, **7734**, **7736** and **7737** are chronograph movements produced from 1966 to 1978 based on the 1948 Venus 188 design. When Valjoux absorbed storied chronograph maker Venus in 1966, they discontinued that company's high-end column wheel chronograph movements and focused instead on the price-optimized Venus 188 family. These used a cam switching technique that was cheaper to manufacture, and would go on to be used in the Valjoux 7750, still in production today and perhaps the most popular chronograph movement of all time. The Valjoux 7730 was essentially identical to the Venus 188. It is a 14 ligne, hand winding, cam switching chronograph movement with 17 jewels and running at 18,000 A/h. The 7730 was redesigned in 1969 with different reset hammers, giving the 7733/34/36/37 series. It was further modified two more times in the 1970's. The date feature on the 7734 was not quickset. ===== Variants ===== * Initial series * 7730 (1966-1973) - Small seconds at 9 00, 30-minute counter at 3 00 * 7731 - Same as 7730 but with new balance cock * Redesign * 7733 (1969-1978) - Small seconds at 9 00, 30-minute counter at 3 00 * 7734 - Small seconds at 9 00, 30-minute counter at 3 00, date wheel * 7736 - Small seconds at 9 00, 30-minute counter at 3 00, 12 hour counter at 6 00 * 7737 - Small seconds at 9 00, 60 second sweep, 10 minute countdown for regatta start **Description:** * Hand winding cam switching chronograph **Functions:** * Hours, minutes * Small seconds at 9 00 * 30-minutes counter at 3 00 **Data:** * 14 lignes * D 31 mm, H 6.0 mm * 17 jewels * 18,000 A/h * Power reserve 45 Hours **Production period:** * 1966-1978
