Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai

From 2005 through 2010, Officine Panerai produced a line of Ferrari-branded watches.

History

In 2005, Ferrari signed a new deal with Panerai to create a higher-end watch offering. The resulting “Ferrari Engineered by Officine Panerai” models moved upmarket from any previous offering for the brand with only limited-edition models created. Although created and sold by Panerai, the Ferrari models did not feature that iconic brand name on the dial. Instead, Ferrari branding was used.

In all, Panerai created 20 “FER” references, numbered FER00001 through FER00020. Notable references include the Granturismo Rattrapante Ref. FER00005, two-register Granturismo Chronograph Ref. FER00011, and Granturismo GMT 8 Days Ref. FER00012. Most used a Luminor-style case with no bezel. The Panerai partnership ended in 2010.

Granturismo models feature classic racing styling, with smaller numerals and a checkerboard motif in the inner dial. Scuderia models are more modern, with larger numerals and simple patterns. Other models stand out with unique styling and colors. Nearly all Ferrari models by Panerai come in a 45 mm Luminor-style case apart from FER00018 and FER00019 which use a 40 mm case. FER00024 stands out for its classic styling and Minerva 13-20 movement, as does the modern FER00030 "California" flyback chronograph.
