Titanium is used more and more for watch cases, especially for watches with a modern appearance. Titanium is nickel-free and thus hypoallergenic — this is a big advantage for people with allergies.
Titanium is completely air-stable and excels stainless steel in its corrosion resistance. Significant deposits of titanium-bearing rocks are found in Australia, Canada, Norway, South Africa, and the United States.
The titanium watch model Porsche Design by IWC Ocean 2000, which was launched at the beginning of 1980, promoted significantly the popularity of this metal at the production of watches.
