Panerai Mare Nostrum Slytech

Mare Nostrum Slytech is a diver's chronograph by Panerai.

With the watch model Mare Nostrum the manufacturer Officine Panerai, so far only responsible for specialized military watches for the Italian navy divers, entered the public wristwatch market in 1993 for the first time. The watches were first produced as a prototype and then some of them were sold. They were equipped with the manual winding movement ETA 2801-2 with additional chronograph module Dubois Dépraz 3127.

Panerai had already used the name “Mare Nostrum” in 1943 for a diver chronograph for special model that was then given to board officers, which however did not reach beyond the state of a prototype.

All in all, the Mare Nostrum series included a total of 990 pieces.

Some pieces were reworked for the series Slytech from 1995. From this emerged the references PAM 6 (blue dial), 7 (white dial) and 8 (black dial).

Following the phenomenal success of the Panerai models from the mid-1990s, also these earlier models move increasingly back into the focus of collectors and watch enthusiasts.
