VC 5300

Calibre 5300 is a manufacture small automatic movement from Vacheron Constantin first produced in 2016.

Overview

Vacheron Constantin long relied on ebauche movements from Jaeger-LeCoultre, F. Piguet, and Audemars Piguet, but in 2016 they unveiled a family of in-house movements to be used across their product line. Cal. 5300 is the company's compact time-only movement, with central rotor automatic winding, small seconds, and modern 28,800 A/h frequency. The movement is compact, measuring 22.60 mm (9 3/4 ligne) in diameter and 4.00 mm thick. It has 31 jewels and sports the Geneva Hallmark.

Prior to developing Cal. 5300, Vacheron Constantin typically used a compact quartz movement in their small ladies watches. This movement brought automatic mechanical technology to the Overseas "Small Model" line. Unlike prior quartz movements, however, Cal. 5300 lacks a date complication.

Although the design is reminiscent of the VC 5100 movement introduced at the same time, Cal. 5300 is a different design.
