A bridge is a movement component that holds a wheel bearing with two attachments to a plate.

Overview

A bridge is a metal part, which forms the upper bearing point for at least one wheel axis (pin) and is mounted on the back of the plate. A bridge differs from a cock in that it is mounted to the plate in at least two places, typically on either side of the wheel bearing.

Because many balance wheels are mounted to a bridge, balance bridge is a common term in watchmaking.
