A cock is a supporting movement component attached at one point to a plate.

A cock, like a bridge or plate, holds movement components in place. In contrast to a bridge it is fixed only at one point, while the other side ends at the bearing of a wheel, balance wheel, or lever. Some movements feature multiple cocks for different components, but the most common use is to support a balance wheel at the top. In this case, the regulator is often placed on top of the cock.
