The Tourbillon Minute Repeater 5539 is a luxury wristwatch from Patek Philippe.
This hand-wound watch combines two of the most prestigious complications in Haute Horlogerie: a minute repeater and a tourbillon.
The model was unveiled at Baselworld 2013. It features an officer’s case made of white gold and is distinguished by a blue enamel dial with applied Breguet numerals and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock. It is considered the successor to the legendary predecessor model Ref. 3939 and represents the pinnacle of the house’s watchmaking artistry.
The Ref. 5539G-001 was originally offered for approximately €400,000 (about $450,000 at the time of its launch), though the price later rose to around 520,000 Swiss francs. Due to its extreme complexity and the requirement that a “Level Four” watchmaker (with over 12 years of training) assemble it, production was very limited, and the manufacture of each individual piece took 1.5 to 2 years. The final approval of the striking mechanism’s quality was personally conducted by Patek Philippe’s president, Thierry Stern.
