+A **Swiss lever** is a concept in watch [[movement]]s.
+The Swiss lever escapement is now by far the most common watch [[escapement]]. It falls into the category of "free anchor escapements", as the [[balance wheel]] oscillates "freely" after leaving the [[anchor]], in contrast to, say, the Graham escapement. There the regulator (in this case the pendulum, not the balance) is always in contact with the [[escape wheel]].
