Milanaise refers to a close-meshed braided bracelet, mostly made of polished stainless steel. Usually it is directly connected to the watch case.
Milanaise bracelets were first used by Northern Italian artisans in the mid-19th century. Compared with leather bracelets, the manufacture of Milanaise straps is much more complex.
Since this type of strap can not be stretched flat, the watches must be stored sideways.
