Alto is a French watch brand.

After studying business and marketing and having worked at Audemars Piguet as marketing manager for the French market, Thibaud Guittard decided to found his own watch brand.

His watch design is influenced by industrial design visionaries such as Giorgetto Giugiaro and Luca Bassani, combined with a fascination for the aspirational works of Olafur Eliasson, the musical universe of Daft Punk, and the cinema of Christopher Nolan.

The first model of the brand, Art 01, is conceived as a single piece with a single case, the taut, sharp lines initiated by the beveled sapphire crystal are perfectly extended by the case, making the latter both present and absent from the whole. Over 300 hours of design work went into this unique sapphire crystal.

The Art 01 features its own manufacture movement, a micro-rotor self-winding caliber with “anti-clockwise” hours, minutes and seconds functions.

The A01 caliber was imagined by designer Barth Nussbaumer, and entirely developed by the Cercle des Horlogers manufacture in Neuchâtel. Visible through the caseback, this movement is only 4.04 mm thick and features a singular architecture. Sharp angles and prominent lines, in keeping with the brand's stylistic codes. The mainplate is made of shot-blasted grade 5 titanium to meet the highest standards of resistance.
