Hublot Magic Gold is a patented 18-karat gold alloy consisting of 75% pure gold and 25% ceramic (boron carbide) that was introduced in 2011. The material is characterized by its extreme scratch resistance, which is approximately 1,000 HV, making it significantly harder than conventional gold (approximately 150–400 HV) or stainless steel (approximately 200 HV); it is so robust that only diamonds can scratch it.

Production takes place exclusively at Hublot’s own foundry in Nyon, where liquid 24-karat gold is injected under extremely high pressure and at high temperatures into porous, cold-pressed ceramic components. This innovative alloy is used in various models of the Big Bang series, where the material is often combined with black ceramic or titanium elements to create a striking visual contrast.
