JeanRichard, Daniel

Daniel JeanRichard (1664-1741) was a Swiss watchmaker.

In 1705 Daniel Jean Richard moved from La Sagne to Le Locle and founded the watch industry in the Swiss canton Neuchâtel as one of today's most important economic sectors of the country. In his memory, a monument was built in Le Locle. It is located next to the today's post office and recalls his merits.

Today, the watch manufacturer Daniel JeanRichard (now JeanRichard), owned by Girard-Perregaux, bears his name.
