Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) is the Swiss national organization for measurement, part of the Department of Justice and Police, headquartered in Wabern near Bern, Switzerland. In 2015, Omega established a new test of chronometers for magnetic resistance. This test begins with COSC chronometer certification before being tested under exposure to 15,000 Gauss. Watches the pass are awarded Certified Master Chronometer status. This testing is performed at a METAS laboratory in Biel near the Omega headquarters and is closely associated with the brand.
