Speake-Marin is an English watchmaker and founder of the eponymous Swiss watch manufacturer, Speake-Marin.

Biography

Born in 1968, English watchmaker Peter Speake-Marin (born as Peter Neville Speake, Marin comes from his wife's name) studied at Hackney Technical College in London and later at the School of Watchmaking WOSTEP in Neuchâtel. He then returned to London and joined Somlo Antiques, heading the antique watch restoration department. After seven years at Somlo, Speake-Marin went back to Switzerland in 1996 to develop and build high-end complications for Renaud et Papi.

In 2000 he became self-employed, launching his first branded model, the Speake-Marin Piccadilly, in 2003. This was the foundation of the Swiss watch manufacturer, Speake-Marin.

Speake-Marin is a member of the renowned watchmakers association AHCI. He assisted in the creation of other high-end Swiss brands, including assisting Max Büsser in forming MB&F and designing the Excenter tourbillon for Harry Winston. He also founded the Maître du Temps brand with Steven Holtzman, developing their Chapter One and Two, before focusing on his own Speake-Marin brand in 2008.

In June, 2017, Peter Speake-Marin announced that he would be leaving his eponymous company. It is now owned by the Rosnoblet family.
