Tiffany is a Jeweler founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany in 1837 in New York City.
Since 1851, when Antoine Norbert de Patek visited Charles Lewis Tiffany in his business in New York, there is a cooperation between Tiffany and Patek Philippe.
In 2008, the jeweler and Swatch Group formed a joint venture to produce watches. This culminated in the March 31, 2009 launch of Tiffany Watch Co. at BaselWorld. But just over two years later, on September 12, 2011, Swatch unilaterally dissolved the partnership claiming Tiffany delayed development of the business. Tiffany countersued the company on March 12, 2012, but an arbitrator ruled in favor of Swatch on December 22, 2013 and Tiffany was forced to pay CHF 402 million in damages.
In 2019, it was announced that luxury group LVMH would acquire Tiffany, reportedly for its jewelry and American retail strength. A series of lawsuits followed before the acquisition was finally completed on January 7, 2021.
