JLC 970

Calibre 970 is an automatic watch movement from Jaeger-LeCoultre.

From the 1930's to the 2000's, no Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch had an automatic movement. This changed with the 2001 introduction of the Reverso Grand Sport Automatique and the 2005 introduction of the Reverso Grande Automatique with Calibre 970.

Calibre 970 is an automatic GMT movement made up of 233 pieces. It runs at 28,800 A/h, has 29 jewels, and a power reserve of 50 hours. Measuring 5.70 mm in height, it is rather thick for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso movement. Calibre 970 displays two timezones on the same face with two coaxial hour hands. It also has a big date indicator at 11 00 and a subdial for small seconds and day/night indication.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Autotractor family of movements is often referred to as “the 970 family”, and Calibre 970 should be included in this family, since it includes the same elements as the familiar JLC 975. Calibre 970 is very closely related to Calibre 977, used in the Reverso Squadra Hometime, but that watch has only a small date window at 3 00.

Applications

Jaeger-LeCoultre used this calibre only in the 2005 Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Automatic.
