neomatik is a term used by Nomos to refer to watches using their new family of thin automatic watch movements. It was introduced in 2015 and has since spread to many different models.

History

In 2015, Nomos presented a new ultra-flat automatic manufacture movement, DUW 3001. This was a major advance for the company, being an entirely in-house design and using the company's own Nomos Swing System. The movement was launched in a series of 10 models across five families. The existing Tangente, Ludwig and Orion lines are complemented by the new Metro and Minimatik lines. Each of these lines also included a “champagne” version with champagne dial and matching hands or indices color.

As an introduction, a limited so-called “1st edition” was launched, which was quickly sold out. It is characterized by the use of neon colors (respectively light blue neon or orange neon), which is gently and finely tuned to the overall appearance.

In following years, Nomos expanded the neomatik line to include the Ahoi, Club, and Tetra families. Additionally, larger models were added, the Club Campus 39, Metro 39, Orion 39, Tangente 39, and Tetra 39.

neomatik Date

In 2018, Nomos introduced the DUW 6101 movement, adding a date complication to the neomatik movement. This was used in the Tangente Sport, Ludwig, and Orion. The new Tangente neomatik 41 Update features 30 apertures around the dial with a red indicator showing the date by framing it in two apertures.

The DUW 6101 measures 35.2 mm in diameter but just 3.6 mm thick. This large size is due to the location of the date wheel at the periphery of the movement, allowing the date indication to be moved out to the edge in larger watches. The date mechanism is quickset in both directions from the crown.

The Nomos Autobahn line was launched with the Autobahn neomatik 41 Datum, and a Club Sport model was added as well.
