The DUW 3001 is a small and thin automatic movement from Nomos. It is a new design, introduced in 2014, and uses Nomos' in-house Nomos Swing System.

Overview

The 2005 introduction of the Alpha movement family was an important turning point for Nomos, their first in-house constructed movement. This was followed in 2006 by the Nomos Epsilon, the first Nomos movement with automatic winding. The next great leap forward for Nomos was the 2014 introduction of the Nomos Swing System, an in-house assortment, in movement DUW 4401. In 2014, Nomos introduced the Nomos neomatik centered on the freshly-designed and compact DUW 3001 movement.

DUW 3001 is not a direct evolution of the Peseux 7001-based Alpha/DUW 4401 family. Instead, it is a new design that leverages the company's in-house movement design capabilities. It also introduces a new version of the Nomos Swing System on a two-sided bridge instead of a cock. The traditional three-quarter plate design is emphasized in the design, unlike the previous models. The design target appears to be the respected ETA 2892A2 DUW 3001 is slightly wider at 28.8 mm vs. 25.6 mm but thinner at 3.2 mm vs. 3.6 mm. But the ETA movement includes a date wheel as well.

The DUW 5201 movement is an automatic movement with small seconds at 6 00. Like other Nomos movements, it is made in a three-quarter plate design, plated with rhodium and decorated with Glashütte ribbing and perlage. It features Incabloc shock protection and 27 jewels. Nomos boasts that the gear train is 94.2 percent efficient.
