Aletta & Peter Stas

Swiss watch entrepreneurs

Aletta Bax and Peter Stas C. founded, both still at a young age, 1988 in Geneva the independent family company Frederique Constant in its present form. By chance we find the company name formed from the name of the forefathers also in the name of the present owners Aletta Francoise Frédérique Stas-Bax and Peter Constant Stas.

After the two had designed their first collection of six models with Swiss movements, made by a Geneva watchmaker, they presented it in 1992 to the public. By good quality, affordable prices and a memorable appearance of the watches (the pulsation of the balance wheel could be admired through the dial), they succeeded in gaining a foothold in the densely populated watch market.

In 2002 Aletta and Peter Stas acquired the traditional brand Alpina, which was well-known among watch lovers. Since then, they pursue the building of manufacture competence with their two brands so both at Frederique Constant and since 2008 also at Alpina proprietary and in-house produced manufacture movements can be found in the model range.
