El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th is a wristwatch by Zenith.

The record jump

On 14 October 2012, the Zenith ambassador Felix Baumgartner has made history, despite problems with the visor heater that nearly led to termination of the mission. With the brand new El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th chronograph the extreme athlete has achieved a speed of 1,342 km/h with his jump from the stratosphere.

Thus he became the first person in history who has broken through the sound barrier in freefall. Baumgartner has set the following records and collected important scientific data in order to make space travel safer in the future

  • The highest jump with a parachute (39,045 m).
  • The deepest free fall (36,529 m).
  • The greatest speed reached in freefall without stabilization parachute (1342.87 km/h). The previous record of 864 km/h was set by Baumgartner in July 2012.

The chronograph

Sporty 1/10 seconds chronograph with stainless steel case, driven by the well-known automatic calibre Zenith El Primero.

  • First El Primero flyback chronograph with automatic winding and indication of the tenth of a second
  • From the series of ZENITH military chronographs
  • Exclusive indication of the tenth of a second 1 revolution of the chronograph hands in 10 seconds
  • Column-wheel chronograph with automatic winding and flyback function

Zenith won the Sports Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève for the El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th in November, 2013.
