Saxonia Thin is a luxury wristwatch by A. Lange & Söhne.
In the Saxonia series, the Saxonia Thin stands for flat, elegant and purist appearance. The 40 mm wide case is only 5.9 millimeters high and houses the hand-wound L093.1 manufacture movement, which itself is only 2.9 millimeters high and can be viewed through a glass back. It oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and has the remarkable power reserve of 72 hours.
Since the first launch of the Saxonia Thin in 2011, there have been several additional versions, featuring not only classic-style dials, but also unusual, spectacular designs, such as the dials covered with gold flux, reminiscent of a starry night sky.
The intricate artisanal process of creating gold flux originated in 17th century Venice. It involves adding copper particles to a liquid glass mass, which form microscopic crystals when heated with an increasingly small flame. To use this material for dial design, it must be applied with extreme care to the solid silver dial.
